Who We Are

We’re glad you’re here. We are ordinary people on an extraordinary journey, learning to love and serve like Jesus. Come with us!

The Reformed Church in America is a family of churches throughout the United States and Canada that grew from a Dutch branch of believers that engaged in “reforming” the Church from it’s corrupt practices in the 16th century. At that time these believers reformed the church by turning again to the form of the church and belief originated by Jesus Christ that was lived out by the first disciples and early church and born witness to in the writings of the old and New Testaments. The Reformers also insisted that the Word of God was the only ultimate source of appeal in matters of faith. Today you will find that we are a people who simply love to worship Christ, grow in faith, and serve our neighbors. The world of God, expressed through the reading of the Bible and a teaching or message from the Word remains central in our life together.

Beliefs

We believe Jesus, the Son of God, entered our broken world and lived a life that reveals God to us and tells us who we are: beings created by God in God’s image who suffer in a broken world. Jesus lived a life of perfect obedience to God and suffered and died on a cross to create the way for people to be reconnected to God, as we were created to be. God brought Jesus to life again—defeating death—and Jesus returned to his Father in heaven. Because Jesus died and rose again, we can live in hope for a better life in this world and in eternity with God. To connect with this new life and hope, we need to recognize that we have big issues that we can’t fix ourselves, accept Christ’s claim that he is the Son of God and the way to new life, and allow God to lead us into a new relationship with him.
