Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

When we give generously, we are obeying God. The Bible displays countless times where God’s people give; Abraham willingly was going to sacrifice his son being obedient to the Lord. God gave us Jesus so that we may have eternal life. In the same way, when we give, we obey God, but we also grow closer in faith with the Lord.

When we give generously, we bring glory to God. As sinful people, we are born to watch our own desires. But once we know the Lord and give our lives to Him, He changes our hearts to be oriented towards others and towards Him. When we look to the Lord to provide, we can give generously while giving God all the glory.

This week I encourage you to give generously. Giving can look differently. Whether it is giving your time, giving financially, or giving your gifts, we all have the ability to give this week!
